The plot to assassinate the president of Costa Brava has been foiled by Caine’s defeat of the brujo (sorcerer) and Peter’s refusal to pull the trigger. So why is Peter still haunted by the wolf vision in daytime and terrible nightmares that prevent any rest?

Author’s Note: This incident takes place on the night that Caine first comes to dinner at the Blaisdell home, a night immortalized in the episode titled “Retribution”. Imagine that between the time when the whole family greeted Caine at the front door and the time when they all sat down to eat, Paul Blaisdell invited Caine into a family room adjacent to both the kitchen and the formal dining room, while Annie, Peter, Carolyn, and Kelly put finishing touches on the meal.

A desperately worried Peter hastens to his father's side as Kwai Chang Caine fights to survive.
