A missing scene for “Temple,” written for the Sunday Challenge prompt.

On the road back to the temple, Peter and Caine speak through silence, exhaustion, and the uneasy weight of choices neither can fully name. As Peter questions his work, his relationship with Kelly, and the pull of his father’s world, Caine reminds him that he has never truly walked alone.

A missing scene for “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden,” written for the Sunday Challenge prompt.

In the quiet after Alicia Wright’s rescue, Caine reflects on the distance between the son he lost and the man Peter has become, and begins to understand that healing will require more than patience. It will require reaching for him.

In the orphanage after the temple fire, Peter watches spring return outside while grief and loss keep him frozen inside. With his thirteenth birthday only days away, he wants one impossible thing: his father alive and coming for him.

A Valentine’s Day murder spree marked by red velvet roses drags Peter back into the buried trauma of Pineridge, forcing him to face an old predator, a string of victims tied to his past, and the family determined to keep him alive.

The relationship between Peter Caine and Jennifer Sung ("Pai Gow") is heating up, but members of the Sung family object—some violently. And journalist Jennifer is being drawn into a murderous situation between two corrupt businessmen. In the ensuing dual conflict, Peter turns to his father to help save Jennifer...and himself.
